These Buddhist nuns first came into spotlight during the Nepal earthquake in April 2015, when they refused to be evacuated, instead choosing to stay back and help. The nuns volunteered for everything – from physically clearing heavy pieces of rubble to providing shelter to the homeless.
The previously-featured Drupka nuns just finished a 2500-kilometers bicycle trip to promote environmentalism and female empowerment. When they reached New Delhi, the police commissioner invited them to stay and teach self-defense classes to women. Sadly, there’s been no word on whether they accepted.
