Maria Ginesta: Reporter, translator, revolutionary

This is French socialist revolutionary Maria Ginesta, 17 at the time of this picture, one of the most famous of the Spanish Civil War. She served as a reporter and translator, and this picture was almost the only time she took up a gun.

She died at the age of 94 in January of this year.
