The Difference a Year Makes

If you’ve seen the just-posted summary page for the RP book, you’ll notice that I’ve redone the art on all the book-and-web entries. Here’s some side-by-side comparisons – left is new, right is old.

When I first started this project, I had virtually no background in art, history, or feminism. Been a crash course, but I’ve come a long way. And it’s gradually paying off.

Thanks for being there to witness it. :)

Love how the shape of each woman’s body has changed!

    so excited for this! congrats!

I really like these, except the Ching Shih one. I think the I prefer the powerful and intimidating pose she has in the original one better. Regardless, I love how your artwork has grown. Can’t wait to see more! :)

Wow the new art looks amazing (though I do agree with Maven that the original looking-up-the-sword angle on Ching Shih was awesome.) I’m ridiculously excited for this. I know it’s probably a bit early to ask, but I was just wondering if you were planning to release in stores in countries outside the US or languages other than English? I know someone who would love this but she only speaks Brazilian Portuguese.

We’re trying to sell it to international markets right now. They’d have to do the translation.

Agreed: Ching Shih is better in the original. And I kind of prefer the older Mariya, too… The cartoon WWII tank looks better in a 40s animation style…

Wow, that is one broken back pose on the original Ching Shih picture.

The book is out already? I’m really sorry I kinda petered out toward the end and wasn’t able to give you full translations on the modern age ladies.

Don’t worry about it at ALL! You were total translation MVP by a long shot. The book is out October 25th, about 2 months from now. Can’t wait!
